HACC

HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, was established in 1964, is the largest and oldest of Pennsylvania's 14 community colleges, and is the sole institution of its kind serving the Central Pennsylvania region. The College serves close to 22,000 degree-seeking and thousands more non-degree-seeking students each term through campuses in Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon and York as well as off-site learning locations and a robust Virtual Campus.
HACC offers nearly 200 academic, career associate and transfer degree programs, diploma and certificate programs. The College also offers workforce development programs such as allied health, computer training, fire training, law enforcement and safety, security programs and technology and trades. Many of the College's students come to HACC for affordable training for a specific career. Approximately one-third (28.1 percent) of HACC students come to the College to transfer credits toward a bachelor's program to be continued at a four-year college or university. HACC has articulation agreements with several four-year institutions that allow students to transfer seamlessly from two years at HACC to the third year at the institution.
The average age of a full-time HACC student is 23.1 years old, and the average age of a part-time student is 28.1 years old. The majority of students, 62.7 percent, are female, compared to males, who number 37.3 percent. Most of HACC students, 70.6 percent, are Caucasian, with the next largest racial group, African Americans, encompassing 10.6 percent.

YORK COLLEGE

To build upon a tradition of affordable academic excellence and strengthen our promise of professional preparation for our students, York College created the Center for Professional Excellence (CPE), which conducts a national poll that defines the characteristics of professionalism and assists in developing professional development programs for students.
The results of the annual poll guide future seminar topics, guaranteeing that our students are ahead of the curve when it comes to making themselves marketable as graduates. Through its poll on professionalism, we ensure our students know exactly what human resource and business executives are looking for in today’s professional.
